Life is Good, Saved Lives Are Better

My life at this internship has gotten so much better from one fortunate visit in the Brooklyn. We were today instructed to take cases in pairs, I was paired with Nancy, an intern who has only been to the Brooklyn office once before. Our first case was of a young couple. They already have a two year old daughter together which neither of them had planned sinced they did not find out she was pregnant till she was 5 months along. Aparently, she was of a large build and did not have any pregancy symptoms. He seemed to do more of the talking as to why they wanted an abortion, stating reasons like their situation wasn't good for another child and the couple didn't live together so it wasn't a stable environment. With Linda's help later on, we got both to want to see us again, a good sign they may keep the baby.
Sandy was a woman in her early thirty who was very talkitive and excited, a happy person. Despite her demeanor about seeing us, she talked about not liking to have another child and that she wanted us to see how far along through our sonogram to determine if she would keep her child. She brought her 14 year old niece and has a 9 year old son both of which wanted her to have the baby. She became even more exciting and happy upon hearing and seeing that her baby was about 20 weeks old. Everyone joined in on the happy occasion to see the large baby and the commotion we caused talking about it. She was so happy, saying we were a like family and we ended up behaving like lifelong friends by the time she left. We took a number of pictures of her baby, this being one of the most developed babies I have worked with and the greatest instance of a saved life I got to work with. It is moments like these that make me proud to be an intern here and looking forward to saving more.
