A Battle for Peace

Today was my first real experience with the clinic escorts that come on Saturdays outside Dr. Emily's abortion clinic. Five women and two men stood in direct opposition to a few interns, CFRs and EMC staff members. They stand at both entrances with security vests and purposefully create an environment in which girls going in feel uncomfortable.

The fact that they even feel the need to be there is proof that we are making a difference. When they scream at us, we pray for them. When they call the police, the police see we are in the right. When they hold signs in front of our faces to prevent us from face to face conversation with the girls and their families, we keep talking because we offer truth that breaks through blindness.

Saturdays at Dr. Emily's can be difficult. We have to rely on God for the extra patience, perseverence, and bravery that's necessary to do what's best for the girls going in and also for the escorts. It is not just the girls entering the clinic who are confused and hurting. The people in opposition to the truth of life need prayers too. Pray that their souls will be reached by God's hand and that we at EMC will be an example of the peace that comes from support of truth and life.
