The Truth Speaks for Itself

Last week at Emily's, we met a young girl I'll call Tamara. She had found out the day before that she was pregnant and headed straight to Emily's to "get rid of it." The morning we met her, she had arrived at Emily's for her appointment, decided it was too crowded inside, rescheduled, and walked out the door. That's where we came into play.

She agreed to get a free sonogram and came into out mobile clinic. While she was waiting for her sonogram, she picked up a poster we have of fetal development. Looking at it, she pointed out to us about how big she thought her baby was. She was clearly surprised by what she saw. She said, "wow, I feel like a murderer."

After that she just started talking... her mom wanted her to have her baby...her sister had had an abortion and had complications...her boyfriend wanted the baby...the employees at Dr.Emily's were not friendly at all like us...it's scary in there...they never tell you what's going on...

Then she picked up a paper we have that explains the abortion procedure. We watched her talk herself out of the abortion. We hardly said anything at all.

Tamara saw the truth. She saw pictures of fetal development. She saw the abortion procedure. Sometimes, the simple truth is all it takes.

She stayed to talk with us for quite a while afterwards, at least 45 minutes. She left thanking us and telling us she had definitely had a change of heart. There was no way she was having an abortion now.
