Friday was a busy day at the office on Jerome Ave. Four women came in in a row, and each were completely abortion minded at the beginning. A couple of the women seemed to rethink the decision to have an abortion after watching the videos and talking to me.
One of these women stands out especially. "Janay" is 20 years old and pregnant for the third time; she has one three year old baby and she has had one abortion. She is pregnant again and was planning to get an abortion.
After the pregnancy test came up positive, I checked to see when her approximate due date would be, and it turned out to be December 25 2010, Christmas Day. She was very affected by the "Choice Blues" video and admitted that she never knew a lot about what abortion actually is.
We talked about the irony of her due date- her baby would be born on the same day as Jesus, who was born in a stable to a fourteen year old woman. Janay said that she was religious and knew that children are a gift from God and the fact that her child was due on Christmas was not insignificant to her.
As she left, she seemed completely undecided, but agreed to go for a sonogram next week. Please keep her in your prayers so that any seed that may have been planted might prevent her from deciding to abort her baby.
