Its a War Out Here

I have been to Dr. Emily's twice now and have seen just how tense and important this war is for the hearts of women and unborn children everywhere. Before, I had only been to the centers, which be they abortion minded or not, are seeking some kind of help in a comfotable and more paced setting. During sidewalk counseling, trying to stop a woman from killing her baby that is going to a center is so much harder and with only seconds of time to convince them not to go.
The division bewteem the pro-lifers and the clinic's escorts reminds me of pictures I have seen of the DMZ or Demilitarized Zone that runs between North and South Korea. The escorts stnad within their gates and on their property while we patiently await incoming girls on the sidewalk to save from them. The contrast is made more real when both sides have the more active participants that get into arguments. I was lucky to have Father Luis come to help and he spent alot of time talking to the escorts about how they should think about what they are doing and stop supporting this industry. We had other outspoken members but I got to see one particularly adamant woman escort. She hounded me and my partner about how no matter where we tried to stand it was somehow blocking the sidewalk and we shouldn't bother the women at all. Some don't like to think of this as a war but I have seen the tense environment and heard both sides that makes for a war of souls of young women over the blood of innocents that are the primary victims. I will continue to fight the long fight in a war I know we can win.
