This first week at EMC has been very complete; I have been sent to the Queens office where I had the chance to do some counseling. The one that has moved me more was a conversation with this girl, she was 22 and this was the first time she is pregnant. She couldn't understand how that happened given the fact that she has been using protection and taking the Plan B in several occasions, but as we can see, this time that wasn't enough.
What I found unbelievable was the fact that a girl of more or less my age, was totally unaware of the abortion pill's side effects, and how innocently she could believe that Plan B ALWAYS works which is not only false but also hazardous.
Why did nobody explain this girl that Plan B creates a total maladjustment of the body? Or about how uneffective the abortion pill is between the 6th and the 9th week of the pregnancy, failing in 80% of the cases and making those women going through surgery, therefore exposing themselves to more serious consequences?
Ignorance frightens me, and it frightens me a lot. I find very scary that society thinks that Plan B has no risks. For God's sake, of course it does have risks, plenty of them in fact!
Obviously I cannot get angry with this girl for being unaware of these things, its not her fault. This is what big businesses like Planned Parenthood want: ignorant women. They want them to buy their pills, they sell them as "the magic thing", you take one, no suffering, no side effects and what's more important: the problem (they never use the word "baby" they are too cool for school, or simply, they don't want to lose clients for that) would be gone.
That is simply FALSE. There are always going to be complications, a lot of internal and external bleedings, you would feel dizzy most of the time, suffer several headaches and that sensation of being sick and have pain for maybe weeks.
So please don't tell me that you don't know you can get ill from taking the pill. Please don't let them win. It's not your money that matters me, but your life.
Please be clever and get informed. Please be safe. Please be aware.
