Things have changed

The other day outside a Planned Parenthood facility a woman started yelling at her daughter (who just found out she was pregnant) and almost beating her up.

We all stayed there watching the show in silence, without saying a word. But we were all terrified, feeling sorry for that girl.

This makes me think how different things were when our parents where young. 50 years ago if you found out you were pregnant with 17 they would probably made you marry your boyfriend and you would not get a divorce but probably spend your life with that boy who from that moment on would be your husband. Nowadays, if a girls finds out she is pregnant with 17 she doesn't even tell her parents, she would just probably get the abortion as it is legal to do it without parental permission.

I am not saying that making the girl marry that guy who is maybe not her boyfriend but just somebody she just slept with one night, but the sad part is that she doesn't feel like telling her mother because like that girl of the other day, she is afraid that she may be hit by her and so she goes and has an abortion alone, without consulting a friend, her mother or someone who loves her and could truly say something that would help her.

And that is why I am so thankful for being here and have this opportunity of speaking with those women and make them realize that they are not alone and that they have alternatives.
