Last Sunday
Bea and I arrived in Austin (TX). We couldn’t have had better timing, cause the
state of Texas is currently trying to pass a bill that will restrict abortion
and we have the chance to support it.
This bill means
a step forward towards the end of abortion. For one, HB2 establishes 20 weeks
as the limit for abortion. Besides, it requires doctors to have admitting
privileges at nearby hospitals and only allows abortions in surgical centers.
These last conditions would result in a huge reduction of the number of
abortion clinics in the state (approximately from 47 to 5).
This bill
has caused a lot of controversy, and as a result it has divided the city into
two main colors: orange for pro-choice and blue for pro-life, and I want to
encourage all of you to go blue and fight for life.
