Bella's Miracle

On Thursdays, there are sonograms at the Queens office. it is usually a lot more busy than other days and we have to be more alert and ready for battle.
Two sisters walked in, the youngest one, she was 17, pregnant and with her mind made up for an abortion. She wanted an abortion because she was single, the father of the child was a one night stand, she was still in high school. She told us that her childhood was a tough one, she has suffered allot and she did not want the baby because she did not want to bring a baby into the world when she is not capable of giving him all that she did not have growing up. her decision was based on wanting to provide a good life to her child and for that life not to suffer because of her. She knew that the baby inside her was not a blob but she had suffered too much and did not want that for anybody.
We asked her what she prefered, to kill her baby because you cant give him what you wish ( security, school, food....) which are all material things or give him the gift of LIFE and give him a chance to become someone great. With that she broke down into tears, we told her she was not alone, she was a strong, beautiful girl and capable of doing this. Once she was a little more calm, we showed her the film Bella and that was the final push she needed, she is going to keep the baby and this experience together has made us close and we are definitely going to keep in touch. It has been the best experience in this whole internship and I will remember that day forever.
