Sonogram at Dr. Emily's

Last Tuesday, Rafa, Alicia, Maria and I went to Dr. Emily's, the E 149 street's abortion clinic. As always, when we got there, we met Johnny, the truck driver, and Rosanna, the sonogram technician.

The last two weeks we didn't actually do many sonograms. Sometimes the girls just didn't listen to us. Other times, we managed to give them a brochure. But the sonogram truck wasn't very busy.

We spread around trying to cover all the possible paths to make it easier to talk to the girls going in. Maria and I were at the back door, where girls usually go by car and sometimes with their boyfriends.

We took turns. A couple at the back door and another couple at the front door. When it was time to change places, we found out that there was activity at the front door. There was a girl inside the truck!!!

We began to ask a lot of questions... Who she was... Who managed to give her the sonogram... How she was approached...

But then she went out and we realised they were silly questions... There is no point in saying that "we" saved a life, that "we" managed to talk to a woman, that "we" succeeded in doing our job... The only thing that matters is that God saved a child's life and the woman was elated. She looked so relieved. You could tell by her expression that it had been a very difficult decision to go to the abortion clinic. Maybe she thought she didn't have alternatives. But then she saw Rosanna, giving her hope and real alternatives to abortion, and she saw the way.
