People use to think maturity is all about growing up, "it comes with the years" they say, but years only prove

that this statement is wrong.


She came one day at 3p.m with her aunt and cousin, who wanted her to have an abortion because she was

too young, she just didn't know what she was doing at 16 years old.


When it comes to saving babies, mostly if the mother is a 16-year-old girl, you have to be very careful about

what you say. It's not precisely easy to explain someone so young and so overwhelmed by what's happening

to her, why it is important that she shouldn't have an abortion.


They fear motherhood, they are scared because they don't know if they will be able to make it, there's no

money, there's no support from mom and dad, no boyfriend, nowhere to live... It is comprehensible that the

only thing they can see is problems, because becoming a mother, growing up so fast is not easy.


All of a sudden there's maturity, there's responsibility, there are obligations that they can not avoid. How to

tell that to a 16-year-old?


The girl I am talking about is the living proof that maturity comes with life experience. As soon as we started

talking about abortion, she said "I know I am young but I am not going to kill my baby, I made mistakes, but

I am not going to deprive my baby of life". It was her maturity what was talking in that moment, and it was

the result of being able to recognise your mistakes and be responsible for the consecuences.


Maturity comes with life experience, and motherhood is the most wonderful experience one can have in life.
