Jamestown

We also went to Jamestown (Virginia) in our trip for a whole day. Jamestown was the first british settlement in the american continent. It means that the history of the United States of America started there, with the first steps of those explorer who came from Europe.

We visited Jamestown on the fourth of July. I guess you all know that this day is a huge, great party here in the USA. In Spain, if we had a day off, we would usually take it to rest and to celebrate with our families. However, instead of staying at home, there were so many americans -specially families- trying to cultivate their historical knowledge about the country.

That made me reflect. This country is so young if we compare it with Europe and that is why the history is of the upmost importance for them.  As a historian, I must say that those who come from european countries sometimes don´t value the wealth of the history. It is important to look back into the past.
