Goodbye New York

I write this blog from my lovely country, Spain.
The six weeks that I've spent in the Live-house going to be unforgettable, the time in the centers, the counseling with the girls are things that have marked me forever, when I arrived to USA i was pro-life just in theory, now i'm completely pro-life, in theory and practice.

Also the times with the interns in the porch, walking around Manhattan, the funny trips, etc with all the hilarious times. Everything was great.

I want to thank Chris for giving me this opportunity , and thank every one of the interns for this wonderful time.

Thanks to God for this internship.

Last day in Bronx

Last day, I was working in the Bronx, it was my last day working in the internship, during the morning came different girls, like every morning.

One of the last girls that came wasn't pregnant, she was looking for a GYN check-up, so she didn't have to fill in all of the in-take form, then she asked me if everything was ok, and when I check the paper i saw the she had had an abortion when she was 17, now she was 21.
Is surprised me, so i started asking her why she decided to have an abortion, to which she replied that she had a little sister that now is 12, and she did't want to give her a bad example having a baby so young, at that time I said to her that what she thinks that was a worse example, having a baby being so young, or having an abortion. With this sentence she realized that she was wrong, and she used her sister as an excuse to abort.

A lot of girls that i spoke to are always looking for different excuses because she can't have a baby, but i think it's just she was very scared. So we have to show them that having a baby is't as scary as all that.

The abortion "doctors"

I've been today in front of an abortion clinic in The Bronx. I don't know why, but when I've seen the two doctors that are doing abortions, I've been thinking about one thing that one of my friends, that is studying medicine, told me about abortions: "Doctors learn how to save life's, to bring life where there is something that is not working".

Those doctors were thought to promote life, and to save life's. No to murder innocent baby's... They didn't understood the first thing that a doctor has to know!

I actually don't understand books such as "Why I am an abortion doctor", where it is said that "preventing unwanted children and helping poor women break out of the cycle of poverty". This is the principal reason for making the abortions legal... As a student of economics, I don't understand such an absurd statement. Usually, when you state such a thing, you have to explain more clearly and support with data the things you're saying. Anyway, paying $600 per abortion is not the way to save money. Even if the government pays it, it will be better to use that money for education for instance. Cos education is going to help them and let them develop themselves, and taking an abortion that might have some psychological consequences.

I still searching for a explained reason of why are they doing the abortions. And I'm sure I'm not going to find such a reasonable reason. "It's all about money", a neighbor of Emily's abortion clinic told me.

Pro Choice?

Today I began really considering the phrase "Pro-Choice", living here in the US I've learned a lot of new English terms, but in Spain we call those who are not pro-life, pro-abortion. I suppose the term pro-choice came along as a euphemism because pro-abortion sounds so harsh. But upon consideration, I believe that the abortion decision should be decided upon by all people involved, everyone should be given the choice. I don't know why so many people say it is the choice of the individual woman.

I don't think that anyone has the right to make a decision about whether another human being should live, especially the unborn who cannot defend themselves.

A pregnant woman's baby is not just a part of her body. The baby is a part of her, and her family, and a part of the father and his family. Even if unborn children were only considered parts of the parent's bodies, they would have to be considered a part of BOTH of the parent's bodies. And a woman has no right to destroy the man's body!

But the fetus is not just a part of her body. The fetus is a human person who should be entitled to the same rights as any other member of the human community.

From what I can understand, "pro-choice" signifies the right to be ignorant, the right to be self-centered, and the right to kill an innocent baby.

The Abortion in spain (Part II)

Spain breaks records in Europe with the largest increase of abortion in Europe after the legalization of the new abortion law.

According a IFP ( institute family policies) report Spain has increased the abortion in a 115% in the last 10 years, unlike another european countries that have reduced it thanks to policies to increase the birth rate.

In addition, Spanish Government grants for the new parents are ridiculous if we compares it with the ones in Germany or other countries, if we mixed this with the new Abortion Law, we obtain our sad rate of Abortion in our country.

But some Spanish governments are trying to improve the percentage of births, like in Valencia. They have some actions similar to those offered by EMC, but at government level.

We pray that these actions be extend and help us in our task.

The Abortion in Spain (Part I)

In Spain the Abortion Law has just changed.
The last Law that was released in 1985 allows the abortion in just three cases:

-In case of rape in the first 12 weeks
-In case of danger for the mother, without limit of weeks.
-In case that the fetus has a serious sickness into the first 22 weeks of pregnancy.

This was a little different than here in US, but since 2010 the new law is much worse:

-Free abortion for girls older than 16 until 14 weeks of pregnancy
-Abortion until 22 weeks if there is a lethal sickness for the baby
- Like the last law, you can abort if there is any huge risk for the mother
-With 16 years you can abort with the consent of your parents, but if you are scared about what they can say, you can abort without saying anything
-The Law allows the professionals make conscientious objection.

This is our sad law in Spain, and we have to continue fighting against it after this internship.

The poison in small bottles continues being poison

Last Wednesday I read some news about Amnesty international. They are pushing the government of Nicaragua.(in Nicaragua abortion is a crime) for legalizing Abortion using this argument:

"It should be possible for a woman who is raped or is in danger of losing her life, to decide whether or not to abort"

Of course the case of "rape or danger to the life of the mother" is extreme, where the suffering of an innocent woman seems to rise to intolerable heights, so that anyone with a little human empathy admit not to punish the woman who aborts, if she is already in such a terrible situation. But if we admit this kind of abortions, we could admit that some humans can be a threat to our convenience.
Even though this is not what we are defending, because we think that in spite of the severity of the situation, we must remember that we are talking about a human life, and every human is equal and has the same rights.

Therefore, these people offer us those "little bottles of poison" hidden in boxes of natural and reasonable compassion. This could look like a very little package, in a situation too justified and rare. But if we take it, we not just destroy a human life, we destroy the principles that all human life is irreplaceable and you can never seek the death of an innocent man.

Jerome Ave

Today is my first time at Jerome Ave, and it was great, we put up a stand with the T.V. With a video about the development of the baby during the pregnancy, and the models of the different stages of pregnancy. Those little realistic dolls catch the attention of everybody, and that's why most of the people stopped asking us, what are we doing there. Also we hand out some pamphlets about us and the life of the babies.

The fact that the stickers say "free abortion alternatives" allows us to talk with a lot of people about who are us, and that we are Pro-life.

I was very surprised about how many people are Pro-live in the Bronx, they support us and tell us what good we are doing.

I remember talking with two men:. The First one was an African American boy that came and asked us for information like everybody, but 20 minutes later, he returned and told us that he belongs to a group that fights against abortion in Ghana, and he would like to work with us.

The second one was a boy that came so excited, and he ask me about which is the size of a 3 month baby, we showed him and he told us that he has a baby that size on the way, and he looked so happy!!!

Today was a great time today at Jerome Ave!

Couples

It's easy to be the man in a couple who is pregnant. It's the woman who is faced with the real issues. The man is not pregnant, and in fact can never be pregnant and as such how could a man truly understand and relate to a woman’s pregnancy? If the woman chooses she can give birth and keep the baby, however if she chooses abortion she will end a life, the choice is solely hers in the United States. She will be admitted to the hospital to undergo childbirth or in the "hospital" while the"doctor" is killing your baby while you are in the waiting room reading the newspaper.

Is this our role? Of course not! A lot of women come to us considering abortion. When asked about the father of the child, the majority of the time the relationship is not very good and often times we find that the man is pushing for abortion.

A lot of women say that if they were in a stable relationship they would have the baby. Where is the man? We should stand by our Significant Others and our children. We men also need to understand that children are a gift and not a “burden”. We need to stop being selfish and stand up as men, protecting our children and the women in our lives from the heart wrenching pain of abortion.

Remember, she holds the child in her body, but it is your child too. You should fight for the family and love it despite all the difficulties that arise. Men have much more of a role than we thought in the mind of our women.

Forgiveness

Today was my first day at Emily's, our purpose there is to try and talk to the girls who come to enter the clinic show them the value of continuing with their pregnancy.

But today i don't want to focus on the women who enter the clinic, rather on those that go out the back door after getting the abortion. It's so difficult to see the faces filled with pain, the scared and timid movements, and the physical weakness that these girls often leave with. I got to talk with one of these girls, she came towards me like in an attempt to find some support after what had just happened. Looking at me with an incredibly painful expression, she told me that the abortion was horrible, and she feels so bad, but that was her only way out, because she didn't have a job, like her boyfriend, and they can't afford to raise a baby, but this is going her first and last time.

This experience makes me think about the support that we must offer to these girls that are lost and don't know what to do with their lives after the trauma of an abortion. They need our love and affection, and thus they can ask God for forgiveness, praying with a sincere heart, where they will find forgiveness and healing. Then to continue with their lives and hopefully in the future to start a family.

Hello New York

My name is Alex, I am a student of Mechanical Engineering.

I have been in contact with different pro-life groups in San Sebastian. Then I heard about this organization and I thought that this would be an excellent way to save lives working with other people who think like me, by helping those mothers who don't know how to deal their pregnancies.Thank you all.
