Yesterday, a young woman called the Brooklyn office saying that she an appointment with an abortion clinic already but wanted to come in to our office because she was having second thoughts about it. We told her to come in as soon as she could get there. She arrived early afternoon, and after about an hour of counseling and talking with her, we knew that she honestly did not want to have an abortion. She was completely aware of the humanity of her unborn child, but the father of the baby is pressuring her into getting an abortion, and she felt she couldn't stand up to him. However, something still didn't seem quite right. Linda, the Brooklyn Center director, thought it would be a good idea to do a little research on the clinic where she had the appointment for the next day. It turns out that one of the abortionists at that clinic also works at another clinic where a woman died from a second-trimester abortion several years ago. We were able to find a report of the malpractice suit, and read about the details of the case. In reading this, our client revealed the real reason why she was having second thoughts about her appointment. The night before, she had a dream that she went in for the abortion and ended up bleeding to death on the table as the abortionist did nothing.
Once she was finally able to face her fears and realize her opportunities, her mind was put at ease. Before she left, we called the abortion clinic and cancelled her appointment.
