Praise God for Sacramentals!

Praise God! This week went from extremely difficult to extremely rewarding!

Today was Liz's late hours day for those women who work or are in school. Because her center is open until 8pm the interns came in 2 shifts. I had the earlier shift and from 9am- 5pm we saw about 5 or 6 girls.

This morning before going to the center I was so nervous anticipating what the day would bring. But the Lord knew what was needed to give us endurance to keep running the race!

When we got to Liz's I got out my holy water from Lourdes and started blessing the place. Then Liz came to me and said, "I've got something just as special!" She pulled out sacramental salt blessed by an Augustinian priest who is very active in the healing ministry. We took it and sprinkled it over the threshold of the door then I placed some on my tongue.

Praise God for sacramentals!! Out of these 5 or 6 girls two of them had negative pregnancy test results and the others were turnarounds!! The Lord is so rewarding. After feeling broken down and defeated yesterday from attempting to love these women who were mostly abortion minded the way He loved all of us, He graced us with such goodness all day.

Time Well Spent

An intern from Spain said to me tonight, " I am here to help moms save their babies" "If only one life is saved then all of the trouble is worth it." How true these words are!

Working 6 days a week and sharing one shower with 13 other girls is not always easy. But, any trial that comes our way is well worth it when we take a step back and realize why we are here. We have such an unique job! Every morning we know we'll be doing God's work by trying to save babies. Work can be very emotionally draining sometimes and frustrating. Like one of the girls I counseled yesterday at Liz's.

"Jennifer" was 16 years old and was planning on having her second abortion. I talked to her for over 2 hours. She wasn't very receptive, and after all that time still wanted an abortion. I came to Liz heart broken that she would not change her mind. I about broke down right then and there. I gave the girl a few pieces of literature and said that I was sorry but I could offer her no further help. To my surprise she stayed for another hour asking me questions.

Finally, it was time for her to go. She said she was still abortion leaning, but that she wanted to talk more about it. Yes, of course! So, she is coming back in tomorrow. Please pray she comes to her appointment and that she has a change of heart.

Girls All Over the World

Six months ago when my Korean friend went home to Korea, she wrote me a letter. In that letter she said something that rings in my ears every time I counsel a girl. What she said was "Before I came to America I had pre-conceived notions about blond haired, blue eyed girls. But after I met you I began to see that girls are the same all over the world." I was reminded of this today more than ever. I met "Serena" and she was absolutely sure she wanted an abortion. After talking to one of the male counselors for a while, Serena seemed to be on the verge of leaving. After managing to shift Serena to a more private counseling area, she began to open up to me because she said "you're a woman". Much to my surprise, she began telling me a lot more about her situation than she had mentioned in the other room. She kept telling me that I couldn't understand her situation, and I agreed with her. I told her that a doctor may not understand a cancer patient's situation, but he still knows how to help. Again, she began opening up more and more to me. The reason my friend's letter stuck with me in particular during mine and Serena's conversation was because it's so true. Maybe I couldn't understand exactly how Serena felt, but I knew exactly how it felt to be a woman. This understanding goes a long way when working with these women. Because, deep down, all girls want the same things. To be loved, to be seen as beautiful, etc, etc. That is a huge part of what we do here at EMC: making sure women feel loved and beautiful. Well, because, they are!

This helped me grow as a counselor because I realized even further how much I am just like these women. Because no matter where we are from or where we are coming from or where we are headed, we are all the same.
Hello all, I'm new here so I do not know exactly what to say. To start I could say it's hard to see certain things I see on abortion on the other hand it is gratifying to see how there are people who know correct his bad decisions, go back and get back on track which God has prepared for them, though never nobody said it was easy. I would also like to say that I am surrounded by wonderful people who knows what really matters in life and fight for it with all his strength every day and make my day a great day also give me motivation to face the day as it should be.

As fate would have it...

The summer time is a great time to set up an information table near Dr. Emily's, so Tuesday we began our resource table activities. I loaded up my arms with brochures and the table and set off to cross Southern Blvd. The light turned green and traffic started as I was only midway across the street. A kind lady noticed my predicament and offered a hand as I made my way to the curb. I noticed quickly she was pregnant, however, so I declined her offer and said,
"No thank you sweetheart, you're a pregnant lady. You shouldn't come out into the street".
She grimaced. "It's ok I'm about to get rid of it over there in that clinic".
At that moment I looked her in the eye and recognized her face from a few years ago. I said, "Hey, how are you? I know you."
She replied with a smile,"Oh yeah, i remember you from when i was pregnant with my son. You remember me?", she said in shock.
The rest was history (or... a turnaround as we call it). We talked for awhile while she ate a sandwhich, Joel (another sidewalk counselor) also came by to encourage her. Rosana performed a sonogram inside of our sonogram van, and she saw a beautiful image of her 16 week old baby in the womb. Later that night I sent her a text to which she replied, "Thanks I love yall, too. Thanks for stopping me today i feel bad in my heart because I wanted to get rid of my baby but i will be fine, goodnight and please don't forget me. I was hungry God sent me out to eat and then run into you too".
I am so thankful to God for giving me such a beautiful ministry to show His love and compassion to the hurting world. Julie

Fighting the fight

The only thing needed for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing.
This quote to me should be the thinking of the entire pro-life movement. Every prayer outside the abortion clinic is making a difference. Each debate you get into at school. Every sign you hold up at a rally is helping.

The pro-life movement has been active since even before the 1973 court case that legalized abortion on demand everywhere in the country. Can you imagine where we would be today without the courageous leadership in our movement?

Reflecting back to the civil rights movement a few names come to mind; Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and several others were so very important in changing the history of our great nation. Today I am so proud to say that I am working along with the people whose names my grandchildren will read in the history books.

I am confident not only that abortion will be made illegal, but that the same people I am meeting here on this trip will be forever remembered for their courage. They are the ones who are willing to put themselves on the line so that evil will never triumph. They are the ones who have dedicated their entire lives to ending the atrocity that is abortion.
They are the ones who will be remembered when people think back to the pro-life movement.

They are the ones who WILL end legal abortion in our country!

Choice and Conviction

The choices people make in life do not always portray their real convictions. Most often, people choose what they would do with their life based on other people's conviction. Some people change their mind on their own conviction because they have been persuaded by others to do that which ordinarily they wouldn't have done. Unfortunately, their life is based on the dictates of others.

An abortion-minded woman walked into the Brooklyn office on monday. Her boy-friend later joined her. After watching our videos, she decided (and was convinced) not to abort her baby again. But she has only one problem: she is completely dependent on the boy. We spoke to her at length and convinced her to keep her baby. The counseling and explanation we gave her made her change her mind. She will also pick a job through us (coupled with our free benefits); and this too made a lot of impression on them. I wish the boy's conviction will not later prevail over hers.
Please pray with me that she may discover her self esteem and stand by her conviction to keep her baby.

Hope

Before today, as a pro-life advocate living in a liberal culture, I always felt like a member of the minority. I mistakenly assumed that most Americans were either pro-choice or pro-life but unwilling to force their beliefs on others, and I felt a little bit like a radical. Earlier today, I was sidewalk counseling outside of an abortion clinic. At one point, I was told to hand out pro-life literature and engage people in a discussion about abortion. To my surprise, most of the people I talked to actually agreed with me. When I asked them how they felt about abortion, most of the people told me they believed it was wrong, and many of them said that teens need to abstain from sex. One man even went on to say that girls today have low self-esteem and that is why they wear suggestive clothing and sleep around. His statement blew me away because that is exactly how I feel. And most of the people I talked to assured me they would tell other girls not to have abortions. Today I learned a lot about myself and about my neighbors, and it inspired me with fresh hope. Hope for a tomorrow where the life of every human being, no matter his stage of development or medical condition, is legally protected.

Female Physician

During our educational and religious excursion to New England, we visited the Susan B. Anthony birthplace in Adams, Massachusetts. Not only did we learn about her life, but also about may other inspirational women leaders like Elizabeth Blackwell.

As America's first female physician, she was rejected by over a dozen medical school before she was finally accepted at Geneva Medical College but only as a prank. She persevered through much persecution including from those who assumed she was an abortionist.

I purchased the book "ProLife Feminisim Yesterday and Today" in which she states,

"The gross perversion and destruction of motherhood by the abortionist filled me with indignation, and awakened active antagonism. That the honorable term 'female physician' should be exclusively applied to those women who carried on this shocking trade seemed to me a horror. . .an utter degradation of what might and should become a noble position for women."

These words, spoken in 1840 still ring true today. I spent the day protesting outside Dr. Emily's "Women's Health Pavilion." "Women's health" has become a catch phrase which normally includes many practices that do much more to harm than help women and their health.

It truly is a culture of death, with twisted ideas, ways of thinking and customs. As our main counselor pointed out to me today, you have to act like abortion is no big deal because that is how they think of it. You really have to be an actress because inside you are freaking out because it IS a big deal, but if you act like it you will scare the women off.

So may we be more like Elizabeth Blackwell and refuse to let bogus slogans or catch phrases define who we are.

To Love As Christ Loves

Before I started working at EMC, I was sheltered from many realities that plague so many of the women who we help at EMC: abusive relationships, post-abortion syndrome, extreme poverty, broken families, and many other difficult situations. My job here has been eye-opening, to say the least.

Last week I met a girl named "Claire" who is pregnant for the fifth time. Her first four pregnancies ended in abortion, and she is in her fourth consecutive abusive relationship, and was considering a fifth abortion.

She poured out her heart to me over the course of two sessions. While she is now planning to keep her baby and is scheduled for a sonogram, she has a difficult road ahead of her. She is a beautiful and strong woman though, and, as I assured her many times, will make an excellent mother.

I thank God for these opportunities to truly understand the difficulties that so many woman struggle with and I pray that I may learn to love others the way that He loves.

Precious Blood of Jesus

The last three days have been so difficult! This is my first week as an EMC intern and it has been one of the hardest weeks I have ever experienced doing pro-life work. I have a tiny bit of experience with sidewalk counseling (swc) outside of a local abortion clinic in Gainesville, FL located right next to the University of Florida, but the experience I have gained over the past three days has almost tripled the experience I have from swc outside Bread and Roses in Gainesville.

On Monday I held a crying 17 year old girl for four hours who was terrified, shaking, and bawling because she believes the lie that having a baby now will ruin her future of law school.

On Tuesday I was at Dr. Emily's sidewalk counseling where everyone's hearts were just hardened to any ounce of light or truth. That especially applied to the most aggressive and angry girl I have ever seen who threatened us. All I could do was weep for her because the only way she knew to deal with her pain and brokenness was to build a cinderblock wall of rage instead of allowing herself to be vulnerable.

Today I spent 2 hours talking to an abortion minded girl who after her second abortion promised herself never to have another abortion yet 4 months into her 3rd pregnancy wants to go through with another abortion.

Through all of this I have been coming home from work each night almost depressed because I love these women with my whole heart and truly desire the best for each of them that when I see them putting themselves through so much pain I can feel it too.

After talking about all of this with some other interns, the Lord reminded me that He won't give us anything that we can't handle. He keeps asking me to give Him this grief that I have for these women and every day at mass I do. But when mass is over I scoop my burdens off the altar and put it right back on my shoulders instead of taking His sweet yoke and binding all of the evil that is clinging to me to the foot of the cross and washing it with His most Precious Blood.

Please pray for us interns to constantly be reminded that this is not our burden to carry but it is the perfect opportunity to hurt with these women and unite the pain and suffering we are feeling for them to the pain and suffering Christ endured in his passion for us.

Please Pray!

What a sad story I have for you readers! I met a man who was trying to force his girlfriend to have her third abortion, even though it was clear this was not the choice she wanted. She told me plain and simple, "I do not want this, I just want to know other options, but my boyfriend who is sitting out there wants me to." So we took this as a good opportunity to show him the video called Choice Blues.
We thought this would humble his heart, and he would see what potentially would happen to the girl he supposedly loved. Well instead he laughed in our faces, and pointed at the little baby being torn apart, and said, "Am i supposed to feel guilty about his?" My mouth dropped along with the girls head in embarresment, and the creep walked out! The girl let him go, and is on her way for a sonogram tomorrow! Let's all pray for this girl that she gets herself and her baby out of his life.

"You Can Lead a Horse..."

"Why did my dumb sister give me the number to THIS place?" said this girl I'll call Jane. "I should've just gone to Dr. Emily's!" I asked her if she'd like to reschedule and she refused saying she would stay to take her test and consultation. I came back into the room a few minutes later and she asked me if she could just take her test and leave. "Well, if you sign it at the bottom then you agree to stay for a test AND a consulation." Jane then replied, " I don't have time for this."
"Well" I said "then you can just leave."

I wish I didn't have to say this to Jane. I wish she would've agreed to stay and talk to me, Liz, or any of the other counselors. And lastly, I wish she would've agreed to keep her baby. But, unfortunately some people will refuse to even listen.

After Jane came and went quite abruptly, a 17 year old girl came in for a test. I asked "What do you want to do if your test is positive?" "I want to abort" she said "no way can I take care of a baby." We talked for awhile and then I showed her two abortion videos. Tears began to roll down her face, and her body began to shake. I called in her sister for moral support( she had tried earlier to talk her sister out of having an abortion.) She kept saying "I can't do this" "I can't do this." Luckily, I got her into a sonogram that day with the help of Kathy. I don't know what the outcome of the sonogram was, but I am still praying for her that she has the strength to make the right decision.

Some people won't listen. But thanks be to God for those who do. Like the mom of the little baby in my picture that Liz saved!

Faith and Humanity

People now have their own version of what it means to have faith. This was made apparent to me by a conversation with two men outside Dr. Emily's. The wife of one man had just gone in for an abortion and Julie had already started talking to them. I didn't know what had started the conversation but they started talking about his wife's situation in an interesting light. They had already had five kids and were living with three others through other family or adaption. His wife had a kidney condition where one was almost useless and the other was being overworked and all the specialists they went to said that it would be riskier to have a baby than an abortion. He and his bother-in-law said that they had faith in God and would not be there if it wasn't for the wife's condition.
I find many things wrong with this argument. One is that I rarely would EVER think having a baby is riskier than an abortion. Another is that we suggested to him to consult with one of our pro-life doctors before he resorted to this but refused. At one point he tried to justify his claims by giving us hypotheticals and broad statements. He wanted to know what me or Julie would do in his situation. She had her own answer but I said that it would be the hardest decision in the world but I would risk having the baby. They then resigned that all doctors are the same, only wanting money and that most priests were child molesters so being really churched didn't matter, someone only needed one's personal faith which was especially sad since these were Catholics. Without going on for pages about how wrong they are, these were good men at heart but they are a current breed of people that want to call themselves good people for putting basic faith on God and his teaching yet have lost all faith in the people he entrusted to carry out his will and help others. I don't think one can truly have faith without believing in one's fellow man. After all, how can you claim to know an invisible God when you don't believe in his visible messengers on Earth?

The Truth Speaks for Itself

Last week at Emily's, we met a young girl I'll call Tamara. She had found out the day before that she was pregnant and headed straight to Emily's to "get rid of it." The morning we met her, she had arrived at Emily's for her appointment, decided it was too crowded inside, rescheduled, and walked out the door. That's where we came into play.

She agreed to get a free sonogram and came into out mobile clinic. While she was waiting for her sonogram, she picked up a poster we have of fetal development. Looking at it, she pointed out to us about how big she thought her baby was. She was clearly surprised by what she saw. She said, "wow, I feel like a murderer."

After that she just started talking... her mom wanted her to have her baby...her sister had had an abortion and had complications...her boyfriend wanted the baby...the employees at Dr.Emily's were not friendly at all like us...it's scary in there...they never tell you what's going on...

Then she picked up a paper we have that explains the abortion procedure. We watched her talk herself out of the abortion. We hardly said anything at all.

Tamara saw the truth. She saw pictures of fetal development. She saw the abortion procedure. Sometimes, the simple truth is all it takes.

She stayed to talk with us for quite a while afterwards, at least 45 minutes. She left thanking us and telling us she had definitely had a change of heart. There was no way she was having an abortion now.

Praise the Lord.

Why I'm here.

I arrived to Life House on Sunday, which irronically was the anniversary of D-Day. Though with more realization and acceptence of the total control God has over the world He created, I believe less in irony and more in divine providence. D-Day is significant to me because I have many family members who fought in WWII. When I think of WWII, I instantly think of the Holocaust. As I traveled from my home to Life House, I thought of all my family members who are military vets or currently in the military, and how every last one of them considers today's American Holocaust through abortion worse than any genocide this planet has ever faced, with over 50 million legal abortions that have occured since Roe v. Wade. Sunday was also Corpus Christi, which again, I know is Divine Providence. Again on the family military vet theme, I thought of how each and everyone of them saw Jesus Christ as their head captain Whose will trumpts any general's command by no comparison. I am so blessed to have such a supportive family in my faith and pro-life activities.

Sometimes when we learn about our world's horrific history, we think "Where were my relations when the Jews were being killed in concentration camps, or African Americans lynched in America? or Native Americans diseased and slaughtered" or any other social injustice . . . were they fighting against it, did they take part in it, were they silent? We all pray the day will come when abortion will be abolished. When that day comes, and my decendents wonder "where was Laura when girls were walking into abortion clinics everyday by the thousands in her country?" I want the answer to be - "She was out there in the frontlines. She was a handmaid of the Lord." And that's why I'm here.

Paths Well-Traveled

EMC staff, interns, and volunteers see a lot of women day in and day out. Some women have had an abortion or multiple abortions. Some women have children. Some have never been pregnant before. Regardless, these women have choices to make. Yet, no matter each woman's choice, everyone at EMC is ready and willing to walk these paths alongside her.

Perhaps it is the road to abortion recovery. Or the road to motherhood for the first time. Or the road to renewed chastity. Or the road of leaving an abusive relationship.
Here at EMC, we've walked down all these paths with women. If this isn't a testimony of how much EMC cares about women, then nothing could be.

EMC has been traveling these paths with women for a long time as well as taking on the challenge of each new path presented by the unique situations we encounter each day. Perhaps we have not been in the same situation as many of these women and men, but we know what it is like to cry together with them, hold their hand, and embark on a journey together.

Baby Angel

Today is a sad day.

Last week I got a call from one of our staff that one of our girls was going to the hospital and that we needed to meet her there immediately. Despite having a sonogram, multiple counseling sessions, and being in constant contact with us she decided that she couldn’t have her baby and wanted to abort. She procured the RU-486 abortion pills and took the first tablet. The first series of tablets is a high dose of progesterone which blocks the hormones that go to the unborn child, ultimately leading to starvation of the baby. However, after taking the first tablet she changed her mind and decided that she wanted to keep her baby.

As we were in the cab on the way to the hospital we thought that it was a miracle that she wanted to keep her baby but knew that there was a chance that it was too late. We were both anxious to see her sonogram and the baby’s heartbeat. After spending the night in the emergency room with her the doctor comes over and takes us back to the sonogram room and almost immediately we can see the constant thump, thump, thump of the baby’s heartbeat. At that moment we laughed, cried, and hugged knowing that even though we weren’t out of the woods yet there was a good chance her baby could live since the first RU-486 pill didn’t seem to work. As we walked out of the hospital that morning we were met by a sunrise as bright as our hopes for our girl and her baby.

This week I’ve been on the road with Chris and a few other interns but today I was informed that our girl hemorrhaged and lost her baby. I was crushed. At first I had a hard time accepting the news. I didn’t want to believe that something that had seemingly ended so well actually turned out to be so tragic. And even though tears escaped my eyes, I had to remind myself that everything possible was done to save our girl’s baby and that this wasn’t anyone’s fault. It’s really easy to take the whole world onto your shoulders in our line of work because we want to reach every girl and save every baby and when we don’t it’s like we failed. But I had to remind myself that that this is just how God decided it was going to be. If I had the final say I would have picked a different ending but because God works outside of time he could see what would have become of the baby whereas I cannot. Maybe the baby would have had some adverse side effects where as God had planned for her to be perfectly normal so instead of subjecting an innocent to the pain of living a life compromised by the ill use of free will He called her home instead. Even though this could be seen as a tragic loss we have to remember that while her time on Earth was short we now have a baby angel interceding for her mommy and the people who worked so hard to try and save her life.

Hope and a Future

Today was a big day at the EMC Bronx center. So many girls came in and there were ups and downs in the most touching extremes. In the midst of a difficult day or week, we can always trust God to send us a situation of hope.

I talked to a young teenage girl today who came into the center seeking an abortion. I knew that this conversation would be difficult, too difficult to do alone, and God was with me through every word that was exchanged. I remembered all the times my friends and relatives have given me good counsel, and all the times I have talked to them about serious things, and we just talked. We watched the videos and told eachother what we think.

She didn't know anything about abortion. Together we went from "it's scary" to "it's wrong", and even further to "I'm going to tell my friends about this".

This story of hope is a blessing to me, as I know that this girl's baby will be a blessing for her. Please pray. She has hard times ahead with school and parents and all the pressures of this world. But thanks to God her future is not marred by the abortion of her child, but can be lifted up as she continues on her new path.

Pro-life Feminism

Many present day feminists claim that being pro-choice is being pro-women. According to them, abortion allows a woman to have control over her life. This was not the view of abortion held by some of the earliest active feminists including Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Yesterday, I visited the birthplace of Susan B. Anthony with four other interns. During the tour, we learned a lot about how evil she believed abortion to be. Although she never publicly, explicitly stated her official opinion on abortion, she allowed others to publish in the newspaper she owned pieces which condemned abortion, and she did not allow her newspaper to post advertisements for abortions. Her newspaper, The Revolution, published this statement by Mary Wollstonecraft, “Women becoming, consequently, weaker...than they ought to be...have not sufficient strength to discharge the first duty of a mother; and sacrificing to lasciviousness the parental affection...either destroy the embryo in the womb, or cast if off when born. Nature in every thing demands respect, and those who violate her laws seldom violate them with impunity.”
In a speech on “Social Purity” she gave in Chicago in 1875 she said, “When the mother of Christ shall be made the true model of womanhood and motherhood, when the office of maternity shall be held sacred and the mother shall consecrate herself, as did Mary, to the idea of bringing forth the Christ-child, then, and not till then, will the earth see a new order of men and women prone to good rather than evil.” It is clear from her diary as well that Susan B. Anthony considered abortion evil. One of her entries condemns her sister-in-law for doing a self-induced abortion. The early feminists considered abortion to be so immoral and contrary to the laws of nature that they saw it as a result of and proof of the inferior, degrading position women held in society. In September of 1869, The Revolution contained an essay by Mattie Brinkerhoff which stated in reference to abortion, “When a man steals to satisfy hunger, we may safely conclude that there is something wrong in society - so when a woman destroys the life of her unborn child, it is an evidence that either by education or circumstances she has been greatly wronged." Not only did they consider it evil, but they also saw it as halting progress in the women’s movement for equality. They believed that abortionists twisted the real aim of the women’s suffrage movement to make it seem that women wanted to dominate men rather than gain equality with them.

Its a War Out Here

I have been to Dr. Emily's twice now and have seen just how tense and important this war is for the hearts of women and unborn children everywhere. Before, I had only been to the centers, which be they abortion minded or not, are seeking some kind of help in a comfotable and more paced setting. During sidewalk counseling, trying to stop a woman from killing her baby that is going to a center is so much harder and with only seconds of time to convince them not to go.
The division bewteem the pro-lifers and the clinic's escorts reminds me of pictures I have seen of the DMZ or Demilitarized Zone that runs between North and South Korea. The escorts stnad within their gates and on their property while we patiently await incoming girls on the sidewalk to save from them. The contrast is made more real when both sides have the more active participants that get into arguments. I was lucky to have Father Luis come to help and he spent alot of time talking to the escorts about how they should think about what they are doing and stop supporting this industry. We had other outspoken members but I got to see one particularly adamant woman escort. She hounded me and my partner about how no matter where we tried to stand it was somehow blocking the sidewalk and we shouldn't bother the women at all. Some don't like to think of this as a war but I have seen the tense environment and heard both sides that makes for a war of souls of young women over the blood of innocents that are the primary victims. I will continue to fight the long fight in a war I know we can win.

New Found Hope!

In New York City 50% of pregnancy's end in abortion! This fact should be quite devastating to the country. There now lays a great void and sadness among us all. There is so much violence, corruption, and depression everywhere we look. Where is all this coming from? Abortion! Our country is murder minded. It solves all of our problems. If you get pregnant with a child, and simply do not have the "money" to take care of it, we just kill it! What happens when we all think it is okay to do this? Well let's look to China for a reference. In a news paper article I was reading the other day, it was talking about the tragedy of China's murder minded society. Apparently across the country there have been serperate events of slaying of school children! Hundreds of young kids have died, and the parents are rightfully devastated! The country wants to know why this is happening!! The answer is abortion! China as we all know is simply okay with abortion, abortion and more abortion. Once this has become ingrained in their minds, violence is the natural ends to a desire! No morals stand in the way! I just hope that our country does not end up like this. Although it is on its way! I have hope on our pro-lifers to make a difference and spread the truth! Even though we run into so many abortion minded women, EMC turns around so many abortion minded women. It feels so good! I have hope for our country, and for our world! What we need is a lot of prayer, and hard work. Yesterday, when I had a young girl who thought she was pregnant and she said if I am, I am keeping the baby! I am against abortion! I thought thank God he sent me an angel. There are people who do not have to watch Choice Blues and witness an actual abortion to realize it is horribly wrong! Being in the face of murder, it can become disheartening, and difficult to see there are pro-life people out there. We just need to create more of them.

A Christmas Baby

Friday was a busy day at the office on Jerome Ave. Four women came in in a row, and each were completely abortion minded at the beginning. A couple of the women seemed to rethink the decision to have an abortion after watching the videos and talking to me.

One of these women stands out especially. "Janay" is 20 years old and pregnant for the third time; she has one three year old baby and she has had one abortion. She is pregnant again and was planning to get an abortion.

After the pregnancy test came up positive, I checked to see when her approximate due date would be, and it turned out to be December 25 2010, Christmas Day. She was very affected by the "Choice Blues" video and admitted that she never knew a lot about what abortion actually is.

We talked about the irony of her due date- her baby would be born on the same day as Jesus, who was born in a stable to a fourteen year old woman. Janay said that she was religious and knew that children are a gift from God and the fact that her child was due on Christmas was not insignificant to her.

As she left, she seemed completely undecided, but agreed to go for a sonogram next week. Please keep her in your prayers so that any seed that may have been planted might prevent her from deciding to abort her baby.

A Battle for Peace

Today was my first real experience with the clinic escorts that come on Saturdays outside Dr. Emily's abortion clinic. Five women and two men stood in direct opposition to a few interns, CFRs and EMC staff members. They stand at both entrances with security vests and purposefully create an environment in which girls going in feel uncomfortable.

The fact that they even feel the need to be there is proof that we are making a difference. When they scream at us, we pray for them. When they call the police, the police see we are in the right. When they hold signs in front of our faces to prevent us from face to face conversation with the girls and their families, we keep talking because we offer truth that breaks through blindness.

Saturdays at Dr. Emily's can be difficult. We have to rely on God for the extra patience, perseverence, and bravery that's necessary to do what's best for the girls going in and also for the escorts. It is not just the girls entering the clinic who are confused and hurting. The people in opposition to the truth of life need prayers too. Pray that their souls will be reached by God's hand and that we at EMC will be an example of the peace that comes from support of truth and life.

The Truth and The Lies

My first day of work around Dr. Emily's abortion mill is full of interesting experiences. This morning they carefully exposed their carelessly-written lies with which they deceive the ignorant and less-informed. Among these glaring lies is "ABORTION IS HEALTH-CARE; HEALTH-CARE IS OUR RIGHT". I made it clear to some of the staff at the murder camp that health-care is given to the sick alone, and no sick woman can become pregnant. Pregnancy, for goodness' sake, is not sickness. So how can abortion be a way of taking care of a pregnant woman? Her life is not in danger as one other caption implied: "Save a woman's life, Defend abortion clinics". What a madness! If we defend murder we're defending the devil and his wicked agents. If we defend abortion clinics the human race will become extinct in the near future. A pregnant woman has an important assignment from God: to carry with love, care and respect what is inside her, the greatest of all Divine gifts to mankind.

I always wonder the taste of food in the mouths of staff and owners of abortion clinics, the food bought with the money realised from the job of infanticide. With this income too they take care of their own children, those who are 'fit to live'.
Well, in our present world, it's no longer surprising to see men and women who are agents of the kingdom of darkness. Abortion can never be a better option for any woman, not even when she's completely helpless because of the condition she in. One best advice (in the simplest ABC) for every woman or girl of child-bearing age is this, If you know you are not ready to have a baby, do not sleep with a man. With this you will be free from having to choose to kill, or to have, or to place your child for adoption.
