Dr. Emily's in the South Bronx is an abortion clinic that supposedly helps women in a jam. Of course, they don't actually tell them what's going to happnen, after they've been put under for the procedure.

Over there summer there have been people that show up to escort these women in for abortions. Personally, I don't understand how they think their helping these women in the first place. I just wish these people were willing to weigh all of the evidence and then decide whether their really helping these women. Your never going to see one of them leave saying, thank you, in any form, nor will they be happy and the reason why is because they know they have just done something very wrong.

Obama at Martha's Vineyard

First of all it's always hard to tell what your going to get whenever you deal with Obama. But then there are people that think we should just leave him alone on his vacation. Perhaps these same people are not aware that Obama held a press conference while on this vacation or that he continues to support Planned Parenthood and NARAL while on his vacation. While Obama may have spent time away from the Whitehouse, as a future Presidential hopeful I can tell you that the President of the United States of America never truly takes a vacation while he is the President.
Well never fear there were eight of us that let Obama know that "life begins in the womb" by holding up banners a quarter of a mile from where Obama's family was staying on the Blue Heron Farm.

Volunteer Avenues

Just this past weeek I met a young man by the name of Victor who is a self proclaimed liberal. But there is something very different about this liberal.

Simply put, he gets it. As he put it, it stops with abortion. Folks, here we have a liberal with an honest to goodness conscience. If only all liberals were like Victor the world would be a happier place.

Each Mother is Different

The other day I had the opportunity to counsel four of the young ladies that came to see our office in the South Bronx off of 149th and Third Avenue.

One of the young ladies simply did not yet realize that she was indeed pregnant, which of course does come as a surprise to some. But that's what happens when you lay down, take off your clothes, and have the most intimate contact you'll ever have here on earth with another human being. Every time you have sex you can get pregnant.

She just kept laughing and saying something like, "I can't be having a baby". Which Liz, the director of the office, said, "Than what is it, a fish"

Her boyfriend understood and wants her to have the baby while she didn't seem to know what to do yet. He did his best to comfort her while she just tried to understand what was going on. Laughter was her way of escape.

I had another young lady that had just lost her virginity three weeks before. She's 15 and only here for the summer. Her parents are divorced and she is with her father for the summer.

Washington D.C.

Currently, Congress is in it's August recess, but within the next 30 days, Congress will be reconvening and so will the Obama Administration's to pass it's HealthCare plan.

Unfortunately, they also believe that abortion should be included. As if to say that abortion is a needed surgery. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Recently, I got the chance, along with four of my fellow interns, to go to Washington D.C. and attempt to let Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office know how we at EMC feel about that idea. Of course, I don't really think we were well received. Especially, when the Capitol Police were more or less told to keep an eye on us. Some how being peaceful just isn't enough. But then again, Martin Luther King Jr. and his marchers had the same problem. No wonder Alveda King is on our side.

The Capitol Police ended up warning us and the three people that layed down to symbolize the tiny babies that we are trying to protect; that there is a statute that makes a person subject to arrest if they are inhibiting the free traffic of pedestrians going by. These 3 people left plenty of room for people to go by and in fact the police were taking up more area and were more prohibitive than these three prolifers, but of course Nancy didn't like what was going on.

Freedom of Speech is apparently an elective for prolifers. Imagine that. What will we see next?

Saving Babies

Here in NYC there are always a lot of people walking around where ever you might be. With more 8 million official NYC residents from the five burroughs: The Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, and Brooklyn; NYC is one of the biggest cities in the world.

Here in NYC, EMC is doing a number of things to reach out to pregnant young ladies that don't think they want to keep their baby.

We set up tables at busy intersections, we operate a number of centers in four of the five burroughs, we show DVD's of an actual abortion, and counsel women in front of abortion clinics as well as when they come out of the abortion clinic.

The Lifehouse

Currently at the Bronx Lifehouse, in the mid-Bronx area just off of Tremont, south of the Bronx Zoo; we have 15 interns living on three floors in a five floor house. EMC has had the house since May of 2008. At that time we had to do a lot of work on the house to make it liveable. As you can imagine it is difficult having so many people in one house at one time. Although, after August 15th we will only have four people as college students are returning to back to college for the fall semester. So as you can see people are constantly coming and going and interns are constantly needed. Volunteers are also welcome and encouraged to help when ever possible.

Pamphleting

Pamphleting is one of the biggest things that we do in the summer when we have a large number of interns. It helps us get the message out that we are close by and ready to help. It also helps us educate the general population about the truth on abortion and what some of the facts about it are.

Please continue to help us reach the general population through education in a cost effective manner. It says in Hosea 4:6 that "my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge".

If we are to win the abortion issue, we must properly educate the people about it.

Oh the People We Meet

While working for EMC as an intern, setting up a table on the street I have been fortunate enough to meet a few other good hearted people and a few people that were willing to listen.

During these times, I have been able to meet Celeste Mohammed who wants to volunteer with EMC, because he too wants to save baby lives.

Then there was Rolando Bini, who runs a parenting class with Parents in Action. He's using the pamphlets that we give away every day on the street in his parenting classes.

Then there was the lady with dyed red hair that works at Lincoln Hospital, whom had decided to get an abortion, went to an abortion clinic on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens and was all ready for her abortion, when she felt her baby move. So she consequently got up and left. Most ladies would have known what they were doing was wrong, but would not have been able to get up and leave. Praise God she was able to. That was about 7 weeks ago. She was 19 weeks along at the time and is due in October.

Then there were two guys. Kids really. One just laughed and the other was somewhat interested. The interested one turned out to be a dad of a baby currently in the womb. After telling him that all of our organs our completely developed by 11 weeks, he told me that they didn't know what they were going to do and weren't ready to parent yet. He said he would come in with his girlfriend.

And then there were two girls that came by. One is pro-choice and didn't want to take a pamphlet and consider the information, while the other girl wants to do an internship with us, because she's pro-life. Her name is Tana Bray and she goes to college just down the street from us on 149th street in the Bronx.

As you can see, while we give out hundreds of pamphlets a day to help educate people on the street about the facts of abortion and how well formed we are in just a short amount of time, we are truly making a difference. So people just want to wave their finger at you righteously without knowing all of the facts and others just see "Free Abortion" where it actually says, "Free Abortion Alternatives". Unfortunately, a lot of people just don't seem to understand what alternatives mean. This is the society that we live in today.

Interns wanted for Internship

Interns currently receive $100 a week and free room and board at the Lifehouse.

Sandwhich Boards

Here in NYC, if you walk around with sandwhich boards saying, "Free Abortion Alternatives". People unfortunately don't know what your trying to say. On the one hand, abortion is such an emotional issue that when people see a sign saying, "Free Abortion Alternatives", they can't quite seem to grasp all three words as the first two are so powerful and say such an opposite message than what were for.

People think were offering free abortions, instead of alternatives to abortion that are free. At the same time this also gives us another opportunity to help ladies that are dead set on abortion to know the truth about abortion.

You never know how relationships can develop with those around you until God does his thing. Saturday morning I was standing on the side walk on the front side of Dr. Emily's Abortion Clinic saying, "morning" to whom ever walked by when I got to start a conversation with someone that happens to work in the suite next door to the clinic. I found out that she is more than willing to work with us from her office. This is just one more way we can help to peacefully bring down this abortion clinic. This lady actually helps run a mentorship program with teenagers mentoring elementary aged students. I also met a man who wanted help and knew that he needed to know english better.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Here on the frontlines of the Pro Life Movement you see all sorts of things. Sometimes you try to tell someone that their baby has a heartbeat, 10 little fingers, 10 little toes, and its own personality and the guy decides that he doesn't like that and wants to wants to beat you down if you say another word to him. At which time you know he's serious and so you stop talking.

Then there are other times where a little old lady (not that ladies ever get old) comes and gives you a hug for no apparent reason. Then there are others that think you have no right to be there because they think you're protesting in front of an abortion clinic that they work next to, only to realize that you work for that clinic that she thought was an abortion clinic, but really helps save lives instead of taking them. Out here on the frontlines, we get the good, the bad, and the ugly. Please continue to pray for us as this work can be very draining. The average Pregnacy Crisis Care Clinic Director lasts two years.

The Law Being on the Wrong Side

Last week, I was able to help out a young man whose girlfriend is pregnant. He wants to move to upstate New York and start a family. Unfortunately, he has gotten on the wrong side law on two different occasions when neither were his or had anything to do with him. I was able to write him a letter that he can give to the judge so that he gets less jail time if any. Please pray for him. I will be following up with him in the future. I gave him a number of different things to do. So we will see if the law continues to try to get in the way of this model citizens.

EMC in NYC

Life is very interesting when you are trying to save innocent babies in NYC. Fortunately, there are many that call us instead of Planned Parenthood when they think they want an abortion and want to take "the easy way out". Of course, as Mary Comm says there is no easy way out. But unfortunately, confused and scared young ladies often do not realize this until it is too late for them and their baby. For that baby will always be their child, whether she chooses life or not.

There are always things that we in the Pro-Life community could be doing better to save the lives of those developing inside their mother's womb, but the bottom line is that we are taking action and thereby saving precious lives so that they too can live and know what it's like to breath outside of their mother's body.
