COUNSELING IN DC

Today in the office we had an appointment with a sixteen years old girl. At first it was afraid and she came because she want her first abortion. In the 5 first minutes it was difficult to try to make her trust in us but al least she was comfortable and tell us what´s going on. She had already have a baby who was born 9 months ago. She was confused because she didn´t know 100% if she was pregnant. After the pregnancy test, we watched a video about the different things methods of abortion.

After watching the video she decided to keep the baby She told a phrase that is thruth "I´m not going to do that, I don´t have the right to kill the baby". She went from the office with a big smile and knowing what to do.

After the counseling, I thought about this girl and despite of her problems she know what an abortion was. If a 16 years old girl is conscious of  the horrible thing that is abortion, is something that all people know but they prefer to think it is nothing and avoid the real situation.

I´m learning with the counseling ´s what the girls feel and to help them

SUCESOS

I was the one inside.

A touching letter.
"In December 1977, an 18-year-old woman was faced with the choice of life or death. It began when she met a boy at a hometown IGA grocery store. He was a sacker and she was the checker -- a typical small town romance and, for both of them, it was love at first sight.
"After their first month of dating, they spoke of marriage and how they would spend forever with one another. Neither had much money, but they had love, which is something money can't buy.
"They also had a future. And, like many young people, they didn't think about the consequences of sex. All of their plans were demolished when the young lady discovered she was pregnant. The boy was only 16, in high school; his only income was sacking groceries. The girl had no way of supporting a family, and they had planned to attend college. Their families couldn't fund the baby's future, either, so the only solution was an abortion. Friends of the family and co-workers raised enough money for the operation.
"To this day, she remembers the hour-and-a-half she spent in the abortion clinic. She and her boyfriend were at the counter, and the receptionist smiled as she took their money, treating her as she did all of the other teenagers. The couple waited an hour before the nurse took her into the room. She says the room was cold, and the clasp of the door is a sound that will forever haunt her. The boy says the time he spent in the waiting room seemed like an eternity.
"As each second passed, each of them contemplated their future, wondering what would happen to their relationship. Fifteen minutes passed. The doctor was running behind; he still had not visited her.
Not being able to bear it any longer, the boyfriend broke the clinic's rules and went into the girl's examination room. He clutched her hand, cried and said, 'We don't have to do this. We can make it. I know we can.' She cried, hugged him and said, 'Thank you.'
"Just then, the doctor walked into the room, and the two had their arms wrapped around one another. The couple walked out of the clinic. Eight months later, I was born. Mom and dad could not tell you if they received a refund that day, but they can give you a long, 20-minute story on every one of my baby pictures."

Wachington D.C

This is the city that Angela and I have to stay for a few weeks. The are a lot of possible destinations but we are lucky and we are staying in a family that are very nice with us and we are very comfortable living with american people and learning more about their culture. Instead of living in the center of the city, the house is surrounded by forest. Every morning when we left the house for working we can see   deers in the path. It´s amazing!

In new york I never had the opportunity to go to the abortion clinics because I went to Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx office. But in D.C my work is to go to planned parenthood and try to speak with the women that are going for abortion and the most important thing is to pray for them. We can´t do this without God´s help because it´s very hard for us see how the girls are destroying their lives because the think that is the only way to avoid their pregnancy.  We are meeting more prolife people that are helping us to improve how we can do this in a better way. The office work and the clinic one are very different bus both are important to try to help this poor girls. I´m going to do my best to help this people!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to go for a trip to Washington DC with six interns and we had the chance to visit the most important things of the capital and a few museums. We arrived on a Saturday evening and we went to a small town that was about 20 minutes from the center of the city, it was Alexandria´s.
The most amazing things of the trip were the Holocaust museum. As I love history, I found this museum really interesting and I learnt a lot. We also visited the Lincoln memorial and we walked for the museums zone of the city like the American history museum and the nature museum.

This experience was great for me because I´m not only visited DC City so I learnt about Jewish and the second war world that I thought about.  Nowadays society think that it was horrible and no for human beings the holocaust. The abortion is the holocaust of the 21st century and people seem to don’t release. However, people consider Hilter a murder because died a million of people but what about the number of babies are kill in a year? With the internship I’m learning more about this similarity and I think people need to be more aware of this catastrophe. As I’m studying nursing, I know that I need to be aware of the importance of  value each human life

LIFE IS PRECIOUS

Working in a prolife organization is an experience that is very rich to value human lifes. It is a hard work because to the office they come so many young girls that their choice to get pregnancy is abortion. But, as I learning in my nursing degree, people that are not having resources or they are afraid of their future in this case, they need to be heard and to see they have a support in their difficult moments. One example, Last week in queens office a woman that was around 35 years old came to the office because she want abortion. At first, it was so rude and serious but it was only for the pressure. She started crying because she knew abortion was a horrible option but she wasn’t having someone who cares on her side and 6 more children to look after. These girls only need someone who love them and help them in this difficult situation that they are passing though. Also, if they believe in God they understand that the baby is a human life that it could not be destroy because each life is a precious gift. So we need to respect and make society realease what is  happenig.

Twins

I arrived to the internship a week ago and I have a lot of experiences in my mind. Fistly, I would like to say that since I didn´t start working on this program I didn´t feel conscious about how the abortion was  considered in the society nowadays and also how the women feel  before, during and after taking this horrible decision. Secondly, the way that in the EMC centers handle with the girls are quite good. I´m trying to learn how to do it as soon as I could but mostly I´m trying pray for those girls who are considering the abortion option.
One of my first counseling is something that I want to mention. I get very impressed because the women at first sight it seemed that it would be really hard to help them but when you started the first contact you realize that is not as difficult as it seems so this let me know that the key is to listen to them.  For example, Last day a 22 years old lady came because she  realized the day before that she was pregnant so we carried on with the sonogram and  by surprised we heard two heart beat instead of one. She  was having twins!!!
I will inform you about more thinks of this internship and the things that I learn about life

Sofia

Hi my name is Sofia Fuente. I´m 20 years old and I live in Bilbao that is a city in the north of Spain.  I´m studying my second year of nursing. I arrived to the life house on Friday evening and I´m still learning how to work and handle all the things I´m learning.

I knew about the EMC intern because my oldest brother did it 4 years ago and his experience was brilliant. Also, I think that is a good opportunity to help women that need help and as I´m studying nursing I think I could do my best helping them and praying for them.  Instead of wasting my summer time, with this internship I´m going to work hard helping those who need to be heard. These days I´m becoming more conscious of the value of this work.

So, I will tell you every detail in this blog about this amazing opportunity!
