My experience in EMC

   For the people that don't know, this is my last blog! I leave on monday to Spain and before leaving, I would like to tell you all my experience here, because this journey has been a great experience for me and for all the interns, I think.

   When I arrived, I started to work in the Bronx office, and there I realized about the importance of this organization in which human lives really are saved. I learned to counsel, and I also started to save lives. It was very gratifying work, but not all was good news. Other days the work was saddening, many women came with the idea of have an abortion, and left with the same idea. It was a miracle when some days later you called them or they called you to say that they were going to keep the baby. Then I began to appreciate not only the lives of unborn children, also I appreciate the mothers. They are needy people, who are desperate and see abortion as the easy way. Our mission is to help them understand that they under the wrong impression.

   Then, the "A team" went to Minneapolis conferences and we learned so much about sidewalk counseling. From then, we were dedicated body and soul to the women who were going to clinics to abort directly. I think, this is the worst job. All is very hard, being under the sun and standing up for many hours, trying to talk to women that don't want to listen to you... There were days that I felt useless because I didn't get anywhere with them, even giving brochures!

  But apart from the job, I leave with very good friends. You come here for two months and you have to work in relationship with the other interns and work mates. One thing that impressed me so much, was how well the people who have worked for years at EMC  do their jobs.It is true that they have more experience in this labour, but without them, this wouldn't be the same. The best example that I have is Rosana, who does the sonograms at Emily's, but also does counseling. I have learned a lot with her, at the same time that other interns have learned a lot with Linda for example. 

   For all the people that don't know whether to come or not, I recommend you come, it is a very gratifying work, a beautiful place to work, New York City, and very nice company.

Planned Parenthood

   Last thrusday, the A team, as we call us, went to work to in front of a new abortion clinic, planned parenthood. There I could be an expectator of a very awful scene.

   María and I went to the back part of the clinic and there we started to pray the rosarie with a group of people that used to go to pray. Suddenly a man arrived by car, and stop in front of us. I only could listen to insults and bad things from him. He was screming us during a long long time, and we could not do anything more that pray for him.

   How can we find in the world all this bad people that actually do not have conscience of the evil that they do. It is something that I think that I never will understand, and until I will get it, I only can pray for them.

Dr.Emily's

   What say about Dr.Emily 's? I think it is not necessary and explain what those two words mean. Although if I'd like to explain my experience there.

   Since few interns returned  of the Minneapolis trip, where we attended conferences about "sidewalk counseling", we have been dedicated entirely to improve our tactics in this type of "counseling" and put into practice what we learned.

   It is still difficult to try to persuade women not to abort, but to innovate in your work have more possibilities to get it and restart again with the same enthusiasm with which we began this beautiful work.

¿Qué contar sobre Dr.Emily's? Creo que no hace falta ya explicar que quieren decir esas dos palabras. Aunque si que me gustaría explicar mi experiencia alli. 

   

   Desde que unos cuantos internos volvimos del viaje a Mineapolis, en que asistimos a conferencias sobre "sidewalk counseling", nos hemos dedicado enteramente a perfeccionar nuestras tácticas en este tipo de "counseling", y poner en práctica la aprendido. 

   Sigue siendo difícil intentar convencer a las mujeres de que no aborten, pero innovando en tu trabajo tienes más posibilidades de conseguirlo y de recomenzar de nuevo con las mismas ganas con las que comenzamos esta preciosa labor. 

Good news!

Hello everyone!!! One more time here with you sharing my experience in this amazing internship.

This week I knew an incredible notice: a woman that came to the Bronx office a few weeks ago, call to my workmate and she said her that she is gonna keep the baby!

I never imagined that this could happen. I only remember from this woman that she only wanted to have an abortion, that she needed it. But all is possible! As I could see, you never can give up, and a negative answer can become positive.

Hoy quiero compartir  con vosotros mi experiencia en el vieje que hicimos algunos internos de la life-house a Mineapolis la semana pasada, con motivo de una conferencia provida que se organizó allí.

Hubo diferentes charlas, entre ellas la del father Frank y Joe Schneider, en las que nos aconsejaban sobre sidewalk counselin, y explicaban como había  en realidad que hacerlo. 
Pero a parte de todos los consejos o tips, hubo una cosa que me gusto más: el ambiente que se respiraba, la emoción e importancia que ponían en la causa, la pasión y esfuerzo dedicados a salvar vidas humanas. Eso es algo, que quieras que no, te motiva para seguir adelante cuando ya no sabes ni para que lo intentas, ya que muchas mujeres siguen queriendo abortar y no consigues cambiar su decisión.

Por eso, estoy encantada de encontrar personas por el mundo, con los mismos intereses que yo. Pero no unos intereses cualquiera, sino que uno tan importante como el de salvar la vida de un bebé y la vida de una mujer, e incluso, de una familia. No desesperes, no eres la unica persona en el mundo intentándolo, no tiremos a la basura el trabajo echo por otros hasta ahora. ¡Juntos podemos!

Trip to Minneapolis

Hello everyone! This is Miriam.

Today I want to share with you my experience in the trip that some of the interns did to Minneapolis, to attend a conference about the abortion. We did a lot of friends, lovely and nice people that were there for the same reason.

We learn a lot of things, but the most important for me is that we are not alone in this difficult mission. That when you are in front of an abortion clinic, and it's too hot, and the only thing that you want to do is go home, you just have to think in all this people to motivate yourself and fight in this battle for women and children.

NICE GIRL

Here one more day!!

Last day at 149 Bronx office I had the opportunity to do a counseling with the most sweet girl that I've ever met. She arrived undecided, and it was good! It meant that I had the opportunity of change her opinion!

I explained her all about the abortion and the risks of this. But finally, when we did the pregnancy test, it was negative. She wasn't pregnant and at the same time, she was very happy. His problem disappeared in one moment!

It's true that it is a relief for her to know it, but though she isn't going to have a baby, I know that everything that I told her about the abortion will be kept for a long time in her mind.

LIFE IS A WONDERFUL PRESENT

This is Miriam here today!

This thursday I took the metro to Manhattan and I could see a marvelous scene between a mother and her daughter. And I wonder: "How can be possible that so many girls want to have an abortion, and for others to have a baby is the best and pretties thing that can happen to you?"

The world is crazy! And we don't realize about that! Many women need us, a lot of them don't know nothing about the abortion, about the risks, and in what consist it. Our mission is to arouse them about the terrible mistake that they are doing or are going to do.

¡Hola a todo el mundo!

Esta semana está siendo una buena semana. Muchas mujeres han cambiado de idea en cuanto a lo de abortar. Algunas de ellas llegaron con esta idea, otras no sabían que hacer, y otras querían mantener al niño. Afortunadamente, muchas de ellas no abortarán.

Pero yo ahora me pregunto: "¿Es verdad que no lo van a hacer, o simplemente lo dicen para irse de la oficina y no escucharte más?". Nunca sabes del todo si realmente están diciendo la verdad, lo unico que puedes hacer es llamarlas despues de unos días para preguntarles que tal les vas, si han abortado o no, si necesitan más ayuda. Y aún así,  tampoco sabrás si miente o no.

Hello everyone! This week is being a good week.

Many women have turn around about the idea of have an abortion. Some of them arrived with this idea, others didn't know what to do, and others wanted to keep the baby. Fortunately, most of them won't have an abortion.

But now I wonder: "Is it true that they are not going to do it, or they only say that, to go out of the office and to don't listen to you more?"

El pasado lunes estuve una vez más en la oficina del Bronx y tuve la oportunidad de hacer mis dos primeros councelings, uno en español y otro en inglés. Supongo que había subestimado lo que era realmente hacer esto... No es tan fácil como parece, y eso que yo tuve suerte ya que la mujer que hablaba en español quería si o si abortar, y la que hablaba inglés no quería abortar. Siempre es más fácil convencer en tu lengua materna que en otra que no lo es, por lo que no tuve que hacer grandes esfuerzos son la segunda.
Lo que más me sorprendió de esta chica, de esta jovencísima chica, es que estaba siendo forzada por su madre para abortar y ella insistía en tenerlo. Me parece un gran valor el que tienen algunas chicas, que aunque actúen mal al tener sexo sin el propósito de procrear, no buscan escapar por la vía fácil y deshacerse del "problema", sino que son capaces de hacerse cargo de sus responsabilidades y salir adelante con ellas.

Realizations

Hi! It's Miriam! Today I would like to talk about my experience in Jerome, an office that you can find in the Bronx.

This would be the smallest office in New York, but what happens there, it's wonderful! Last day, two girls came. One was in her teens and the other in her early twenties. Both though they were very young to have a baby. Both wanted to have an abortion, and one of them finally decided she will parent.

What is the difference between those girls? The fear. I suppose that many girls don't know that they are terminating the life of a human being, to be more exact, the life of a baby. This is the reason most girls have an abortion, and they don't give it a second thought.

One of the girls realized the life she was carrying her child, so she is going to keep the baby. Isn't that incredible?

MY FIRST DAY

It's Miriam one more time!
Last Friday was my first day working in the Pregnancy Center of the Bronx, and I have to say that you should go if you really know how it is.
There aren't any words to explain their faces, their fear, and also their hatred.
It's very difficult to change the decision of all these women, who only come here to have an abortion. And most hardly, say them that we don't do any abortions, and then they leave with more win of aborting...

New Intern!

Hi! I'm Miriam and I'm from Spain. I'm 18 years old, and I came here with my sister Fátima, and a friend, Rubén.
Seven months ago, my sister asked me: "Miriam, do you want to go to New York this summer?", and my answer was: "Yes! Sure!". But what I didn't know, was that it was to work as a volunteer in prolife intern. So when she told me it, I though: "Why not? I can help many girls and most importantly, SAVE MANY BABIES!
So this is the reason why I'm here, and I would never change my decision of coming to New York.
