last day in New York

Today has been my last day of work and it has been very good, we had just one abortion and all the others were

undecided or parent. It was a great last day of work.

During this two months of work, we have lived loads of things, we have hear loads of stories, some of them very

good others sad...but always trying to take the best of all the stories and people.

I would like to thank Chris for giving me this opportunity because if it wasn't for him i wouldn't have been able to

come to New York, help so many women and neither meeting the people I met here.

a good day in the bronx office

Today in the Bronx office we have had a very good day.

At the beginnig, the first woman I talked to she wanted the abortion, when she realized we were not
doing abortions she decided to leave, but as the day kept going things changed. The second woman
has been a turn around, after having taken 6 pills the baby was still alive.

And then two other women that came, one after having had 7 abortions, decided to keep the baby,
she came for help because the reason she was having the abortions is that she had no money. And the
last one just came with her daughter, she wanted us to explain to her the consecuences that
have having sex.

It has been a very good day, helping those women made me feel great!!

Differences between Hawks and Babies

Why killing two hawks is now a days a crime but having an abortion is legal?

In today's newspaper i have read a new that said that a man was punished for killing two hawks, but a doctor that is everyday killing babies is not commiting any crime, what's more, he is allowed to do it, and i wonder, what's more important a human life or an animal? And the answer I get is that babies when then haven't born they are not human, is that a response?

In my opinion, a man can be punished for killing an animal if is just for fun and he has no reason for doing that, but if this is crime, doing an abortion should be punished with a bigger punishment, the fact that they haven't borned is not an answer because the baby has the same rights, and maybe that baby in 20 years from now could be a celebrity. What would have happened if steve jobs mother had decided to have an abortion? Right now we wouldn't have all the technology he invented.

To sum up with this blog, i think that everyone should know apart of the consecuencies that an abortion can have, what their baby can be in 20, 30...years from now.

Priests for life

This week, Father Frank invited us t the Priests for life in Staten Island, it was a very interesting visit, they explained us about their work in there.

Father Frank talked to us about the work we are doing here, and how great is to help a woman that is lost and doesn't know about what she is really doing. He also let us ask all the questions we had about counseling and how we can help woman.

They told us about the tv and radio programs they have in Priests for life, and what they talk about in those programs, it was very interesting!

Father Frank Minneapolis

pro-life meetings

This week I have been in the pro-life meetings in Minneapolis. In the meetings, they talked about sidewalk counseling.

A lot of important pro-life groups were there and talk about how to do sidewalk counseling, it was amazing the stories people told.

A woman told a story about how God and work can make someone change their mind, not only the women who go to have an abortion, also the minds of the security guards.

She told us that in the abortion clinique the guard was always very mean to them and angry, they started praying for him and trying to change his mind, and after seven months the guard told them that their were right and that he was quite his job because he couldn't do that anymore.

turns arounds in prenatal day

change of mind

On Monday, at the Brooklyn office, one of my colleagues was counseling a woman who wanted to have an abortion because she was in a difficult situation economically and personally. Suddenly a woman who a year a go was in the same situation came in, and Linda introduced her to the woman that didn't know what to do. She had a incredible story, her mother passed away when she was very little and her father was an alcoholic. When her boyfriend knew that she was pregnant he also left her, so she was alone and for her in that moment having the abortion was the best thing to do. So she went to the EMC and Linda changed her mind, so now she says that having the baby was the best thing she can ever has done. After listening to the story the woman who didn't know what to do also changed her mind.

Prenatal care

This week in the Brooklyn's office, I have been in a prenatal care that they do every Tuesday, it has been a very good day because I have been with loads of women that wanted to abort but they changed her minds. It was a good experience because after their decision they are all very happy and glad that they changed their minds and they all love Linda very much and are very thank to her for helping them.
Is very nice to be in the office that day because everyone explains their stories and some of them are amazing, one girls explained to us that she went for an abortion three times, but both three times when she got there they told her that her appointment was cancelled, so she said that she was not going to wait more, this abortion was going to be her 4th, so looking for an other place, she found us and when she came and saw that everyone was so nice, she changed her mind, because she says that in the abortion clinique everyone was very rude to her.

turns around

This week we have had many people but the case that I want to share is about a girl that came in by chance, she told us that she went to Dr. Emily's but they didn't attend her because she had no insurance so when she was leaving she got a phone call and she was in the elevator and instead of going down it went up so she couldn't here because in the elevator she didn't have enough signal and she went off of the elevator in our floor and she saw pregnancy center and she went in to see if we could help her, so after talking to her she changed her mind, she had had an abortion before and after telling us the psychological consecuences she said that that happened to her so in the end she decided that the best thing to do was to keep the baby.

First Experiences

This has been my first week here and I have found it  amazing, when you make someone turn around is an experience you never forget, all the stories and problems that people have, that you never imagined that those thing could happen is a great experience, and help them to see that everything happen for a reason and that have a solution, help them see that they always have an alternative is a good thing that makes you feel good.
The other day, a girl came in saying that she wanted to have an abortion, I tried to convince her and change her mind but I couldn't, I couldn't understand because I did my best best but she left saying that she was going to have the abortion, two weeks later I called her to know how was she doing, and she told me that after leaving the EMC office she realized that we were right, that was one if the moments that made me feel really good.

Hello!

My name is Maria Serra, I am 20 years old and I am from Girona, Spain. I'm studying in the university of navarra in San Sebastian, a carrer called management assistant.
I decided to come here this summer and join the pro-life internship, because I think is a very good opportunity to help people that are going to a difficult moment, and I think that this can be an amazing experience that everyone should know about it.
