While I was on the train going back home from being the whole morning at the entrance of Planned Parenthood, my iPod was in shuffle mode and this song: "Let her go" by Passenger came up. I was about to skip it but then I decided to listen to it thinking carefully in the meaning of its lyrics, which are these:
Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go
I don't know that since I am here I link everything to the abortion topic, but these makes me realize something: this is the way a girl that has gone through an abortion may feel. She only know she love her potential daughter when she is gone and she is not there anymore. The moment she leaves the abortion facility with her womb destroyed and perpetrated. The moment she finds out she is empty because she has let her kid die.
Its really sad, and from now on I'm gonna try harder to make them see reality, and the terrible thing they are planning to do when they are considering abortion

The Power of one
Yesterday, we watch a movie in the afternoon, it was called: The Power of one. It was about this boy from an english family who is born is South Africa, her mom died and he is sent to an afrikaner boarding school, in the 30´s. There he suffers bulling and finally he leaves it to be with a german man who goes to prison because of World War II and when he visits him in prison he is taught how to do boxing.
Several years later, he is about to finish high school and go to Oxford University, he falls in love and he becomes really good friends with a black boy. I'm not gonna tell the whole story, but let's say that he tries to fight apartheid.
When we ended the movie, I started thinking how many things this boy achieves in his life with only 18 years old and I asked myself: am I doing enough? Because even if I am not gonna end with something like the apartheid I am doing my best to, maybe not exactly end, but at least make abortion weaker.
You may say I am a dreamer, but as John Lennon used to sing: I am not the only one.

Holocaust
Last weekend we went to visit the Holocaust museum in Washington DC, and we ended up with the conclusion than it is very related with our main issue: abortion.
In his book Mein Kampf (My Struggle) Adolf Hitler had stated that it was the mission of the German Reich to assemble and preserve the German people's most valuable racial elements and raise them to a dominant position.
All human beings were grouped into a hierarchy of superior and inferior races. The nazis regarded germans and other Nordic peoples as racially superior; and slavs, gypsies and blacks as inferior. At the bottom of this scale were the Jews, considered also to be the most dangerous race, in part because, in the Nazis' view, Jews lived parasitically off other races and weakened them. Nazism taught that racial struggle was the driving force in history: superior races must prevail over inferior races in order not to be corrupted by them. Superior races must be encouraged to reproduce, but procreation by inferior races should be discouraged.
Racism pervaded the culture of Nazi Germany. Racist ideas were taught in schools and penetrated the fields of anthropology, sociology, history, biology and medicine. During World War II, racism shaped Nazi Germany's social policies and war aims and charted the course toward genocide.
You would probably think that those ideas are totally overrated and indefensible but actually, abortion is just the same, but even worse because we are not in an atmosphere of war and we are witnesses of daily infanticide.
So we should stop and ask ourselves: what scares you more? A nazi killing jews with a gun or a mother deciding to kill her own child with the help of a doctor?

Sadness
I want to talk in this post about something really sad I lived this week in Planned Parenthood. Interns go to abortion facilities not just to save babies but to help everyone who is involved in an abortion.
What happened is that there were two black men speaking, and I got closed. One of them asked me if I was also waiting for my "lady". I answered I wasn't, why was I there and began to speak with them. One of them told me he was also totally against abortion. He said: "I have already four children. My wife is inside. I work really hard to mantain my four children, and I work really hard to mantain the one who is inside this clinic too." That moved me and I was near to cry, I hope this man won't be affected for the consequences of his wife's decission, because he doesn't deserve it. And I hope that when they quarrel every argue won't end with a: "you killed my baby", something he will be on his right to say but that may end up with his marriage. I wish the best in his life for this great man.

Coincidence or providence?
Last monday I was sent to the corner of the 3rd avenue with 149st to deliver pro-life newspapers. I thought it was a useless thing to do, something for just not being stopped at home. It was a hot day. In every newspaper we put a sticker with our offices' telephone numbers and a tittle whose tranlation to spanish is "GRATIS ABORTOS ALTERNATIVAS".
While giving them out, a woman sitting beside me who was selling things asked me to give her one of these newspapers. She was hispanic, and she was looking at me with a strange face. She might had understood bad the add, I thought. I approached to speak to her and explained her it was against abort. She began asking me questions about what appeared in the panflet, like if the baby was really this like after 5 weeks

and I told her: yes, he already has his eyes and little hands. She told me she was pregnant of about 8 weeks and that she had an appointment for that day to abort. I told her to visit us at the bronx office.
On wednesday I was sent to the office late after being that morning at emily's, something strange among the guys. There, about 3 o'clock, appeared Roselia, the woman I had met last monday and who asked me she wanted to see the abortion video. Of course that case was for me. I filled her sheet with the help of Cynthia and showed her and the father of her son the video. Now, the abortion is not an option for Roselia.

First Saturday at Emily's
Yesterday, it was my first saturday at Emily's. It was a battle. A battle with two gangs. Pro-lifers and pro-choices.
Our function (pro-lifers) was to deliver information. Their function was to take it off them. We deliver a very good brochure were the reality about abort is explained. Why don't they, if they love the scared mothers, want them to be informed? Wouldn't they like to check every point of view if they were going to buy a house or take any important decission? They are not pro-choice. You choose something when you know everything about it, you put it into a balance and then, using your freedom, take a decission. This people is just pro-abort. Pro killing unprotected babies.
I also tried to speak to these security guards. They need of our prayers as much as the babies who are killed every week. I will be there next week to struggle with them to deliver the truth, and will try to convince them about how bad their labour is. Because objectively, we are in the goodness side. Because when it is about abortion, there are not to sides of the same coin.

Buen Comienzo
