See you soon!

This is my last post because next week I come back to Spain. I´ve been for two months. I've never thought that this was like that, it has been different: hard work, get up very early, cold weather, the people...
I arrived to New York with an idea of prolife work and I've met some wonderful people like sister Dorothy, guests who were in our house (the women from St. Lucia, Brendan a journalist from Boston who has a prolife Tv program), and Kwadwo, who works in EMC twice a week and he`s a fantastic person! he was friendly with us!!

In this prolife experience I´ve learnt how the abortion hurts women, how important is the sexual education and having human values, but I´ve discovered the miracle of the life (how the life is growing inside women´s womb (if you want to know more about this, you should watch the report of National Geographic called Into the womb. It's great and amazing!)
And I've also helped some women to save their babies (or I hope so) or to understand the importance of abstinence or having sex after the marriage.

We got to know some places of New York: Manhattan and the Fifth Avenue, St's Patrick Cathedral, Times Square with the big screens, World Trade Center... (it was sometimes really diffcult to visit these places because we were very tired and we didn´t have enough time). NY is a multirracial city, there are hispanics, black, chinese or asiatic and american people.

Since I´ve been here, I praid for all those people who fight against the abortion and they do this job with an smile and treating well everyone.
CHARITY is the most important rule to treat people and it's always necessary. But not everybody sometimes treat you with charity (and a boss must do it).
We defend the life because no one have the right to finish it.

I don't know when I'll come back to NY, only I can see: Goodbye!!

Changing your heart; turn around!!

May we help you?

In our daily work in offices we want to say to the women that the abortion isn't the only exit and it isn't the best solution, there are other alternatives. Maybe the abortion is the fastest solution, but it will affect us for the rest of our lives so does the abortion compensate?

None of women who have come to us and remembered last abortions, they didn't say that the abortion was a good and happy thing (although always seek excuses), although there are women who repeat the abortion, but other don't want to repeat that feeling of guilt at the end of the abortion process, because are we able to live a life that weight?
So in EMC we try to help those women who need it, talk about how a baby could change our life and with positive sense. or talk about adoption...the best for her life; a life without sadness.
Because even though pregnancy is or may be a problem in your life, for different reasons from the age of the girl, sentimental relationship, economic situation, pressure from parents or partner... everything bad can get something good and you shouldn't play with human lifes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A LOOK WHICH CHANGES HEARTS

Last Wednesday we were lucky to have a class with Sister Dorothy, a nun who spent 25 years going to the doors of abortion clinics of NY City to try to avoid (and to counsel) to pregnant women attending the clinic to abort. She takes 18 years in front of the doors of one of the clinics where more abortions are performed, Choice, in Queens.

Every day her day starts very early, at 7:45 she’s in Choice, sheltered to keep warm, and in her hands she has got some informative papers and Rosaries to give to pregnant women, but she’s always smiling;  a smile which gives tranquility and invites you to open your heart.

As I said we were lucky to meet her and have a master class with her. She explained us how to treat women who go straight to the clinic and how to try to remove his heart (because if the heart doesn’t change, the words don’t work). Among explanations she remembered some of his many stories that she has to tell: turn arounds, women who have contacted her to over the years to thank her, etc. Sometimes a word can change more than we think. However, another main characteristic of sister Dorothy is her presence of God and trust in him. Only He is able of removing souls. Then we did roll play with her, each one had a practice session with her.
That day we also met a priest who sister Dorothy cares everyday; a wonderful person who celebrated Mass for us, but he took us a smile with his kind and loving treat with each of us.

In short, I can say that it was one of the best days since I'm here in New York and why? because I discovered that there are wonderful, loving, dedicated and sacrificed people in the prolife cause as well with everyone. I offer for them!!! and I offer for Sister Dorothy and the senior priest who last Wednesday they managed to keep my smile all day (despite the tiredness).
Since then I have in my heart and ask God for these two people who are both doing beautiful and good things!!

Hard Work

It is very early, and  It's time to get up, get dressed, have breakfast (full speed) and make us our lunch. So that is the beginning of our daily work which has already begun from early, although it is Holy Week we've to work.
Our destination isn't always the same, we can go to the different  EMC's offices: in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens or New Jersey or now we are doing sidewalk counseling (going to the doors of abortion clinics to give pamphlets and try to talk to women who come there and preventing their abortions).

Many mornings we'are exhausted; it seems that our body surrenders to go one more day this arduous routine in a looooong season with cold (although it seems that temperatures have risen slightly).
We are tired because we barely have time to rest, our working time is 6 days (48 hours per week), we got up early (at 6.15 a.m. including some Saturdays) and it is often a thankless job in different ways. But then we think about those women we have helped who are going to keep their pregnancy and to keep on their babies and maybe these are the reasons why we continue to work every day in New York, EMC Pregnancy Center.
We are far from home, thousands of miles away (the Atlantic Ocean separates our country from our current location), we miss our family, friends, loved ones, and also our customs and culture made in Spain.

I think it is important to recognize the work done by volunteers in this association. From Spain we have brought a positive attitude, illusion and desire to help.

In the sidewalk counseling is very hard see how women enter in the abortion clinics, for example, Planned parenthood, and how there are pro abortion voluntaeers who are opening the doors to these women, and when you see the pregnant women you see that they are  very sad. But there are people who are praying there and try to speak with someone.

In front of the bleakness

Last saturday I went to Planned Parenthood with Gabri to try to avoid that women get an abortion. There were more prolife sidewalk counseling volunteers.
It was a cold day, many women arrived to the abortion clinic with their boyfriend or alone, but their faces looked sad and unhappy, nobody smiled (maybe because they know that they were doing it isn't correct ant it wasn't the best option.
Then a priest with some women arrived to the place to pray the Holy Rosary in front of the clinic. They praid loudly; it doesn't matter, they pray for women, their boyfriend, for the pro-choice or pro-abortion vounteers, and for all these babies who are killed.
The door of abortion's clinic is the entrance to a sad place, to the hell, where the main action is elimante an human life (although it was very small). Someone asked me  why the abortion isn't correct, it's only a couple of cells, an embryo and it could be an human life when she/he is born. And my answer was: when an egg and sperm une, there is a new genetic code, a new DNA and this is a new life who will be an human. You can understand or not but the true is  this and if you're ok with the abortion, you must know that you're ok with killing little babies and nobody should do business with murders.

Women who leave planned parenthood looked  desolated, so now you Know how do you feel when you are in front of an abortion clinic.

The impact of an image

Me puso a llorar.

The alarm clock is very early, and the sun still hasn't left. It's time to get up, get dressed, have breakfast (full speed) and make us a sandwich to have lunch. So that is the beginning of our daily work which has already begun from early.

However, we know that God knows our work during these months, and how strong is  (and it's true that without him, and his help we could't do anything, but I think this isn't paid with money). Neither we can't forget these benefactors who make possible the fight against abortion.

"Dear young people, only Jesus knows your hearts and your deepest desires. Only He, who has loved you to the end (cf. Jn 13,1), can fulfill your aspirations. His words are words of eternal life, words that give meaning to life. No one apart from Christ can give you true happiness "

Women

A world where women are marginalized is sterile
Those were some words of  the Pope Francisco's speech last 8th of March,Women's Day.

We are women, we can work, we have rights, we have to comply the laws and rules like men (and we can't forget that long time ago a lot of women fought for our civil rights), although nowadays some  people and business don't treat women with justice and equality.

We are women, we do our job with passion, effort just as well as men. However we are different, we can carry the life, we feel how a new life is growing inside of us. We mustn't allow that society decide about our body and that, our, new life. Abortion is killing someone; a little baby who needs her mother (and father too) and maybe this baby will never have got the choice to be happy if you don't give it. There is a new life with a new genetic code (different to the father and mother) when an sperm and egg unite.

The abortion isn't an example of a modern country or state; it's more modern defending the life and protect human life, because we know that all have the same dignity and nobody must decide for the life of others.

I think that women have an exciting adventure in that life and don't forget that:

Women not only carry life but they give us the ability to see beyond, give us the ability to understand the world with different eyes, hear things with a more tender heart, more creative, more patient.
(Pope Francisco, 8th March 2015)

Stories which change your life

That week I've attended (with other volunteers) some women in the Bronx, Queen's and Brooklyn's office and each one with different attitudes.
I don't want to remember women who have decided to get an abortion  (some of them with an advanced pregnancy), I pray not to do it finally. However I never can't forget women who cried when they Knew that she was pregnant, and decided continue with her pregnancy. Women of different ages from 14 to 25 years old. All of them were scared and happy too (both feelings are possible), they thought in her new son or daughter, we told their that her baby already had fingers, brain... It was fantastic! But something new is happened inside of her; her body is changing, and she has got a new human life in their womb.

Specially I like so much three cases, each one of our different Pregnancy Center.
One of them is the case of one young girl who came to the office with one friend. Her friend helped her to decide keep on with her baby. It helped me so much to understand how  help of a friend may be very important. Other is the example of one girl (18 years old) who has decided to be single mother and the last is other girl who wants to have her baby despite wanting to end her college but she could do it, in addition her boyfriend agrees with her and he's happy for that good new.
Those are some little but big stories which have changed their lives forever.

CHANGES

It's strange and great how women can change their attitude, thinking and make other decision when they know that they've alternatives to the abortion which is the life's chance.
Most of the women who arrive at the office aren't married, don't have enough money and they don't know the abortion risks. at this moment they think that pregnancy and the baby are problems in their life but actually abortion is the worst for women. When you get an abortion, later are you happy? Do you think that you never remember the baby, what would be the baby like? I guess that you never or hardly ever could forget it. And life with a guilt would be difficult and unhappy. Do you want it? If you want it, come on! do it (get an abortion)! However everybody, all women  want to be happy and don't want to kill anyone, and less damaging their son or daughter. We try to help them and give them hope.
The life is beautiful, pregnancy is a natural thing that happens inside of us, it's wonderful! A new life grow up in our womb, with our genetics. Do you know that a baby could  hear his mother and smell while he is in the womb? It's a miracle and women can participate (with men too) and transport it. The babies aren't the problem, maybe the life will be a lit more difficult with parenthood, but who says that life was easier?
It's important that you reflection about it.

My trip around New York

This week  was intensive and harder. It started in Queen's office, there I attended a woman who wanted to know if she was pregnant. The answer was afirmative and she was happy!
On Tuesday I went to Queen's office with Carol and then we went to New Jersey (yes!) this day was snowing a lot and it was very cold. We caught 5 or 6 subway lines. New Jersey's office is in a skyscraper and the views are fantastic and beatitul. In five minutes (by train) I was in other estate. It looks like a film of Hollywood.
On Wednesday I went to Queen's office too and I was with a girl who is pregnant (18 weeks) and she wanted to get an abortion, I explained her that abortion has many risks and she's got a baby; an human life. She is undecided. We have to Pray and I hope that she saves her baby's life, so it could be my first turn around.

A walk in Manhattan

Good morning! Sorry to be late with my second post but last weekend we haven't stopped.
On Friday evening my workmates and I went for a walk in Manhattan. First we went to a Grand Central; it's a beautiful station with a lot of shops, one of them it's the popular Golden Mac. When we were walking we were frozen, it was very cold (-10 degrees Celsius but the real fee was -22dC) it was horrible! but Manhattan looks so cool and amazing with its skyscrapers, restaurants with smart people were having dinner, its clothes shops and its luxury hotels, in special I like one of them near the Central Park: Hotel Plaza where it's set in the film Home Alone 2. It's amazing!

Secondly,on Saturday we were cleaning the house and at the evening we went to a concert of the  Orquesta Sinfonica de Mexico. They played different pieces of Spanish composers like Manuel de Falla and  Enrique Granados.

Finally, we went to St's Patrick Cathedral on Sunday and then we met three Mexican men and we talked with them. When we came back home we were exhausted, although, very happy!
Now we start a new week, completely full of work!
See you soon!

The beginning of a prolife experience...

I got to New York last Tuesday and I met the other volunteers who with I live. They`re from Spain too and they told me  their experience with pregnant women who  wanted to get an abortion and then they decided not to do it. It`s amazing!! Obviously when it happens it`s a good notice and they called it: turn around.
Well, at this moment I try to adapt to this big city, especially, the subway.
I've been in the Bronx office and Brooklyn office and I met the people who work there. I`ve read a book called La semilla del amor about the attitude of the prolife workers and the essence about this work which is the love. I'd seen different DVD`S about the abortion and its dammages in the women too. it`s very hard and unkind!
However we attended some women (different ages: between 16 to 27) who are worried and they wanted to get an abortion, finally some of  them decided keep on it. This is the most shocking moments that I've lived since I am in New York.
In addition, it will be a fantastic experience for me and it helps me to value more the life as a gift.

Bye!
